SEO is not difficult...
...It's just that it takes a while to learn and understand to apply on your website.
"Search engine optimisation is not difficult" says Jackson Ellis, ORCA Hammersmith's Website Consultant. "It's just that it takes a while to learn".
Search engine optimisation or SEO is an internet buzzword that aims to get your site to the top of the Google search ranking listings and there are hordes of SEO consultants employed by websites to help them be the best in their field. With approximately 90% of all searchs being conducted through Google, the mighty G has a vested interest in keeping search marketeers on their toes by keeping their their search algorithm secret and continually optimising their results to give users the best search experience.
So SEO is really about understanding why Google want to give their users the best search experience. No prizes for guessing really - people don't want to muck about clicking many times to get what they want when when they could get their search results in as few clicks as possible.
So guess what? Give Google what she wants and she'll serve your site above others. ORCA's SEO guide is FREE, whether you have an ORCA website or not - the principle's are the same. Essentially, as a website owner, you have to put yourself in the place of the user, think like them and search like them. For example, if searching for a beach holiday, one would type in 'beach holiday'. However, if a copy writer was to write 'beach holidays' they'd miss the user. The singular and plural are not the same; the grammar that surrounds this is not the same. 'Walking holidays england' has a three times lower click through rate than 'walking holidays in england'. Strange but true!
